Sooo, Spring Break for the kids was almost over and we hadn't done a darn thing! What cruel parents, I know. Soo after discussing many many weekend gett-away scenarios, We decided to go camping out by the Grand Canyon called Toroweep. As usual we left way later than planned and ended up just a few miles out of town on the way to our destination.
We found us a little spot off the main road by some pine trees and set up the tent. (Yes, can u believe it?!! A tent).
We had yummy tin foil dinners and were sittin' round the camp fire telling the kids stories about when we were kids.
Elvin was telling the kids about all the dogs he'd had growing up and that his most favorite ones were ones they had found out in the boonies where there family would have to go to drill wells etc. The kids were talking about how they wished we could have a dog now at our new house etc.
Well we all tucked ourselves into our sleeping bags and crammed in the tent and slept like....we were camping :) (i hate air mattresses!)
Next morning, as we were whoopin' up some breakfast, the craziest thing accured.... this poor starved, half dead dog peeks out of the bushes at us! He looked sooo pitiful! His collar had the tags ripped off of it, so Elvin figgered some one left him out in the wilderness abandoned.
We fed him 2 packs of hot dogs half a loaf of bread, all the left over tin foil dinners. Poor dog even ate the carrots and onions! :)
Of course we took him with us and the kids decided to name him BONES! :) Hes been such a good dog and we hope he'll fatten up and look normal soon.
We drove on out to TOROWEEP and looked of the Grand Canyon Rim. IT WAS SOO COOL!
We had a wonderful weekend and hope nobody calls the Humain Society on us for starving our poor dog. :) We are now a proud dog owning fam! Welcome home "BONES" :)

No more onions! They are lethal to dogs! But at least our dogs can have a friend to play with when we come visit!
You have a dog and went camping in a tent? Woah. That's cool. I bet the boys just love having a dog to run around with.

awesome what a great story...but glad it was you guys that found the dog...(i am shivering!...i know ... such a mean mom!) glad you had fun...those pictures of your kids peering down the grand canyon make my knees weak! :)
